After reading over and over about the concerns over PUFA’s (polyunsaturated fatty acids), we were kind of on a mission to find a salad dressing that didn’t use vegetable oils (canola oil, soybean oil, etc.). Do you know how hard it is to find a salad dressing without canola/soybean/vegetable oil?! It’s nearly impossible! For a while, we were just making our own dressing with olive oil, raw vinegar, salt, pepper, and spices. It worked just fine, but it’s not always convenient to make.
About a year or so ago, I found this Bragg Organic Vinaigrette. Rather being vegetable oil-based, the base of this is organic olive oil and raw apple cider vinegar. It’s basically what we were making but without the hassle.
There is no added salt to this dressing, so if you just pour it on, you will realize something is missing! I always do a few shakes of sea salt when I’m using this dressing. It’s no creamy ranch if that’s what you’re used to, but with the added sea salt, it makes a pretty good dressing. Even my husband puts it back on the grocery list when we run out.
We’ve also tried their Bragg Ginger and Sesame Dressing. To be honest, it tastes very similar to the Vinaigrette. So if you’re looking for Asian-inspired flavors, the Ginger and Sesame is a bit disappointing. We just continue to buy the Vinaigrette. By the way, I get this at my Super Target!
One thing to note with this dressing is that it does NOT go in the refrigerator. You won’t hurt it, but the olive oil will harden and it will be unusable until it comes back to room temp. So just store it in your pantry! It says so on the label!
The Bragg website is very interesting/informative. The Braggs are kind of pioneers in the health field. Jack LaLanne started his health journey after attending a Bragg lecture before he became famous. Their site is a bit quirky but interesting to check out. They offer many other products, too!
