A bag of chips is a dangerous thing for me since I can never eat just a few chips – I end up eating half the bag! It’s not even the fat or calories that bother me, it is the fried PUFA’s (polyunsaturated fatty acids) that oxidize and create free radicals in our bodies that make me want to keep these out of my house, especially since I can’t stop at just a few! (If you want a quick chemistry lesson on why this is, click here!)
Anyways, I still like a savory, crunchy snack from time to time, and I found these Mary’s Gone Crackers Herb Crackers the other day at Whole Foods…
Wow! I couldn’t believe how crunchy and good these were! I brought them over to April’s, and even our 3-year-olds were asking for more!
These are gluten-free and made with brown rice, flax, quinoa, and sesame seeds. I got the herb variety, but they have several other varieties as well. These are not salty at all, but somehow I didn’t miss the salt (and if you are craving it, you can sprinkle a little sea salt on them to bring out the flavors even more).
Now, I didn’t have my husband try these, so I don’t know what his non-‘granola’-eating palette would think of these, you know what I mean?! But we thought they were delicious, and I would definitely buy them again. Their crunchiness was very satisfying! Check out the Mary’s Gone Crackers website, too – they have gluten-free crackers, cookies, pretzels, and crumbs (to be used as an alternative to breadcrumbs).
