Guacamole – Recipe

We LOVE avocados!!  In the last couple of years we have started eating them daily around here.  They are really great for you too!  A perfect first food for little ones even.  So in addition to just cutting one open to eat with eggs, on a sandwich or adding to a salad, we love to make a quick snack of guacamole.


My Mother-in-law has always made the best guacamole!  She makes a huge batch and if you are not early for the party then all that is left is an empty bowl.  It goes so fast!  I always thought that making your own guacamole was complicated and why not just buy it(super silly, I know!)  So my Mother-in-law was sweet to just adjust her recipe for what she thought for our family size of 4!  So now we make it all the time!




A quick time saving tip…I take a whole red onion and chop it.  Then I freeze individual servings in tablespoons. One large onion will give you about 10+ servings.  I can then just quickly pull out my 1 tablespoon serving for a quick batch. It is thawed in minutes with the lime juice, sea salt and all the mashing and mixing.  We love this with even the optional items left out.  Even easier!


I wanted to share this SUPER quick and easy recipe,  just in case anyone else was like me…intimidated by even buying an avocado let alone making your own guacamole!


Guacamole - Recipe

Serves: 4 to 6
  • 3-4 ripe avocados
  • 1 T finely chopped organic red onion
  • 2 T chopped jalapeno's (optional - I leave these out for the little ones)
  • ½ cup chopped tomatoes (optional)
  • Sea Salt to taste (more makes it better, keep salting and tasting)
  • 1 T lime juice
  1. Mix well and serve with chips or cut up veggies!
  2. ENJOY!!
